Kansas City Radio Control Association boasts a seventy-three-year tradition of celebrating model aviation in the heart of America. In addition to our premier Swap “N” Shop held every February, monthly club meetings, and impromptu gatherings of modelers at the field, we’re “gearing up” for our National Model Aviation Day celebration on August 22, 2026.

Partnering for the third year with local Scout Troop 1306 as our sole food vendor, we expect 30-50 pilots from across the Midwest along with hundreds of spectators and area Scout groups. 

“Come Fly with KC/RC Flight School” will provide ground school orientation via flight simulators and introduction flights using club trainer planes and flight instructors from 9:00-11:30 and 1:00-4:00 for anyone interested in experiencing the thrill of radio control flight.

KC/RC pilots will provide an entertaining and informative airshow from 11:30-12:30. Showing the Top Gun skills of KCRC pilots in a wide range of aircraft including helicopters, jets, classic era planes, war birds, and aerobatic aircraft.   

From 12:30-1:00 visitors will have the opportunity to get close and personal with aircraft during the Parade of Planes as flying is suspended, and everyone is invited on the runway to observe a lineup of planes, talk to the pilots, and vote on their favorites. 

All club profits from the event will be donated to Angel Flight Central, whose mission is to serve people in need by arranging charitable flights for health care or other humanitarian purposes.
